Handicraft kit of glasses carved in onyx.
Size: 5 inches.x 3 Ø Total weight: 3400 pounds.
Origin: Louxor (Egypt)

Onyx is a form of cryptocrystalline quartz. The colors of the bands range from white to almost every color (except purple and blue). Sard-onyx is a variant in which the colored bands are sard (shades of red) rather than black. Although not rare, pure black onyx is the least common.
There are two forms of Onyx - Onyx chalcedonic and onyx limestone; the latter through its training stalamitique, has been mixed with other minerals and gave variations onyx (onyx-albâtre, onyx- marble).
The latter is widely used in ornament and jewelry especially in countries like Mexico or Pakistan. Originally the term "Onyx" means an Assyrian ring, and may relate to any stone used to make rings. They say that the Onyx banit punishment and brings wealth to the owner of it. It is also indicated to provide identifying personal strengths.
